The Church Is The Community

"Simon has declared how God at the first visited the Gentiles to take out of them a people for His name." (Acts 15:14)
"who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy." (1Pet 2:10).

In Christ we come in contact with the reality, we discover the true meaning of the shadows we've been chasing all this while. The reality of community is the Church, all other community is just a shadow, a type and a symbol of the Church. It is in the Church we experience true community life. In the kingdom of God the Church is the community. It is the community of believers, it is a land and a people. This community is founded upon a land and that land is Christ Jesus himself (Act 17:28; Col 2:6-7).

The Church is not made up of independent individuals but a collective people who lives a shared life. They share everything together especially the very land they live. They all benefit from the land, they plow, explore and attempt to exhaust the riches of this inexhaustible land. When affliction strikes the land it affect them all. They experience the same weather and atmosphere. They are drenched in the same rain and scorched by the same sun light. So when they suffer, they all suffer together and when there is rejoicing, they rejoice together.

They spend the whole day with each other and when they sleep, they wake up the next day only to see each other faces again. Their joy, pain, happiness, sorrow even the time of plenty and the time of little are shared together. They have come to know each other through the fire and through water. Such deep intimacy exist among them. They spend all their lives together that each person has become an important part of the other's life. They can't do without each other and they have come to treasure each other.

Nothing is hidden, there is no secret that is not open among the people. For in the midst of the people there is total exposure, total nakedness without the feeling of shame. The people love each other for who they are, they have accepted each other and they understood and respect each other. This is the home of many, here they laugh together, mourn together, rejoice together, work together, play together and celebrate together. This is their community and there is no place like home.
