The Spiritual Stripping

God strip Himself naked when He gave us His Spirit. The Bible explains that, "For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God." (1Cor 2:11).

Everybody has something to hide and no one can know what is in the heart of another. No one would fill comfortable when others have access into their mind, we would feel naked and expose when people can hear our every thought. But yet God brought Himself into that position, He stripped Himself naked when He gave us His Spirit.

God expose Himself when He gave us His mind, "For who has known or understood the mind (the counsels and purposes) of the Lord so as to guide and instruct Him and give Him knowledge? But we have the mind of Christ (the Messiah) and do hold the thoughts (feelings and purposes) of His heart." (1Cor 2:16).

We have the mind of God, we hold the thought and the feelings of His heart. Indeed God has taken us into his inner chamber and has expose His heart to us. He had laid Himself in nakedness and have called us to come have intercourse with Him. How then do we respond to the call for intimacy? How do we respond to God's lowly and shameless act of totally exposing Himself by stripping Himself naked and making Himself vulnerable? We respond by acting in the same manner, we strip ourselves naked before the Lord.

Man have always been in the hiding, always have something to cover and always putting on a mask. It started when Adam sinned against God. The Bible recorded that, "they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden. And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou? And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself." (Gen 3:8-10).

Sin made man dirty and ugly as a result man wants to hid his nakedness. For his nakedness is no longer glorious but dirty, shameful, ugly and filled with things that man would rather hide. Man dread exposure, exposure of his evil thought, his diabolic desire, his sinful act and all his evil ways. Yes, there are so much ugliness in that nakedness, hence man remain in the hide. But Jesus said, "And the judgment is based on this fact: God’s light came into the world, but people loved the darkness more than the light, for their actions were evil. All who do evil hate the light and refuse to go near it for fear their sins will be exposed." (John 3:19-20).

God has called us out of our hiding, out of our sin and this darkness that we now find comfort. He has called us to exposure, having make us glorious through his sacrifice. We are now pure, all our filthiness had been washed away and we can now come to God in exposure, in the nakedness of truth. Paul put it this way, "Yet now he has reconciled you to himself through the death of Christ in his physical body. As a result, he has brought you into his own presence, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before him without a single fault." (Col 1.22). Our nakedness is no longer ugly, for it is now beautiful and glorious as it has been made blameless, holy and faultless. Yes, we can be proud of our nakedness. It is glorious, so take off that garment that is hiding the glory of your nakedness.

Yes, take off that mask that is hiding your beauty, for the Lord desire your beauty, he desire to see you in nakedness of truth and sincerity. So strip... strip of that disguise, that mask, all the pretence and high service. Do it for the Lord, worship him in the nakedness of sincerity and truth, and in the power of the spirit (John 4:24). This is the kind of worship that God desire, for he has called us into intimacy -yes, into a divine romance.
