Christ Is The Living Water

At a time I traveled far north of Nigeria, this was my first time in the north. I arrived there during the dry season; everything was so dry, all the plants were brown and yellowish. Miles after miles, and I could hardly see anything green. All I saw was dead grasses and desert lands. Everything was so dead that it was hard to believe life could ever come out of that land. I stayed till the rainy season, rain fell heavily, and then there was green plants shooting out of this dead land. As water filled the land, it came back to life. Everything was so green, so alive, you could hear the crickets, the frogs, life was resounding everywhere. I never thought this land can be so alive, every was totally transformed all because of water. This experience revealed to me how powerfully water can bring life. Well, that is ordinary water, but we are here to talk about a more greater kind of water, one so powerful and filled with the bursting energy of the most supreme life. And this water is a person (John 4:10).

"And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb." (Rev 22:1)

Out of the throne of God comes Christ, pouring out in a river of living water. This river penetrates into the realm of men, giving life to those who will come to drink.

"Jesus stood and shouted to the crowds, 'Anyone who is thirsty may come to me! Anyone who believes in me may come and drink!'" (John 7:37-38).
"I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly." (John 10:10).

The water of life has come to a dry land and he is here with only one aim, to give life, and to give it in abundance. The land ruled by death will now experience life. Out of the valley of the dead will rise a new life. That which was once dead will hear the voice of the water and spring back to life.
"Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live. The Father has life in himself, and he has granted that same life-giving power to his Son." (John 5:25-26).

The era of death has ended, and a new era has began, it is the reign of life. Yes, life has defeated death, and he is now sitting on the throne. The place governed by "the law of sin and death" will now be ruled by "the law of the Spirit of life" (Rom 8:2). A new season has began, one that will last till eternity. Let those who hear the sounds of the water come out to drink, let them drink until they are filled with life in abundance.
