It's All A Matter Of Where You Fix Your Eyes

I think it was Kenneth Hagins that was narrating how a pastor friend was caught in adultery. This was a man that he grew up with, this man knew God and the truth, so Kenneth Hagins was shocked that this man of God could give himself to adultery. He then asked the pastor how he was able to do it (commit the adultery) with all his knowledge of God and the Bible. The pastor said that at that moment he was to commit the adultery he forgets everything. Everything about God and the Bible is just blocked out, and all that his eyes are fixed on is the act.

What you are looking at, at a particular moment determines what you think, feel, say and do. If you can block out God, take your eyes and fix it on the flesh or a particular desire of the flesh, then your heart becomes flooded with that thing. As a result, no matter how much revelation you have, or how intimate you are with God, all that has been blocked out, and you are a completely different person at that moment, you are now a person who is capable of the most perverse thing—you have become one with the carnal man in you.

It is all a matter of where/what you have fixed your eyes on. Are you fixing your eyes on that angering situation, that lustful appearance, that envy provoking presentation, that thoughts of jealousy, those humiliating circumstances, that shameful experience, that tendency (cause or reason) of hatred, whatever the temptation maybe, or are you fixing your eyes on God, on the Truth (Christ), on how much he loves you and sacrifice for you, on the grace he has given you to walk above sin, on your knowledge of him and the revelation you have gotten. This is why it is very important we take control of our eyes. Jesus was talking about the eyes and how important it is, he said;

"The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!" (Matt 6:22).

"And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire." (Matt 18:9).

Do you see how important the eyes is? And I am not just talking about the physical eyes but also the mind's eyes. If only you can take charge of eyes and teach it to stay fixed on Christ, you will walk in great victory. Your eyes can be programed to stay fix on Christ and repel from anything that is not Christ. Thank God you can program your flesh, you can take charge over it and bring it to obedience, your flesh can be brought to conformity, victory is possible, you can live the overcomer's life. Glory to God!
