The Easy Battle

God promised the Israelites the land flowing with milk an honey, this land was a picture of our salvation. Although this land was promised to them, they still had to fight for it. Yes God promised them the land even before they were born, before they could have any consent, and yet they must fight for it. God will not force anything on anyone, if you don't want the land then you are welcome to die in the wilderness. But if you claim you want it then you must fight to prove how much you want it.
"For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." (Matt 11:30).
However, the battle is easy. This is because it is not your fighting ability that will win the kingdom. The fighting is just to test how badly you want it. It is God that will win the land for you, it's God all the way. Yes, you must fight but the battle is easy if you will rely on God. The only thing that may make it difficult is inability to rely on God, and sadly we Christians have been mostly taught work based Christianity. God has designed the battle to be easy, it is not meant to be difficult at all. This is an easy salvation, it is just too good to be true. No wonder it is called the good news.
"For the Lord your God is going with you! He will fight for you against your enemies, and he will give you victory!" (Due 20:4).
"I will send my terror ahead of you and create panic among all the people whose lands you invade. I will make all your enemies turn and run." (Exo 23:27).
Look at the Israelites, they had such easy battle. Imagine how easy it is to defeat enemies that were already paralyzed with fear. They can't even lift their sword up to fight, instead they turned their back to run, making it easy for the Israelites to cut them down. The Israelites did not need to have any battle skills, they just need to appear on the battle field with a sword, and they will be able to slay as many as possible. God fought for them. At one battle there was hail falling from the sky to crush their enemies.
They didn't even have to go to some of their battles, angels went ahead and slew their enemies. In some battle they delivered such great blow on their enemies simply by singing, shouting and blowing trumpets. It was just ridiculous, such easy battle. Yet their was a whole generation that died in the wilderness simply because of their inability to trust God. Yes, God has called us into a easy battle. We have been struggling so much because we were not taught the way of relying on God, we only knew the way of works.
All you need is to truly want the land and you will get it. Surely you will be ask to do some things that doesn't make sense, silly childish things. Like how the Israelites were told to parade around an impenetrable wall, singing, shouting and blowing trumpets, and then this mighty wall will fall down. It sounds pretty silly, a wall that was designed to stand the fiercest attack, and you are saying mere sound from people's mouths will not just cause it to crack, it will totally sink the whole wall into the ground.
Moses was asked to wave a stick and the whole of the red sea will part. Such absurdity, you can't even part the small water in a bucket with the waving of a stick. The wind release may move the water a bit but it would never part or stay parted for an ant to past. And then Moses was to wave a tiny stick to part a mighty sea. Yes, the path and process of entering the land would require you to do very simple and silly things, and many would be too wise to do them, they will prefer to continue relying on their works.
"Since God in his wisdom saw to it that the world would never know him through human wisdom, he has used our foolish preaching
to save those who believe. It is foolish to the Jews, who ask for signs from heaven. And it is foolish to the Greeks, who seek human wisdom." (1Cor 1:21-22).
It wasn't designed to be difficult. If you are experiencing great difficulties, it's probably because you are not doing it right. We are called to fight an easy battle to win the greatest land in all of eternity. This is just too good to be true, and that is the problem. But don't let that be a problem for you, rather take advantage of its simplicity and enjoy this wondrous ride to glory.
"But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ." (2Cor 11:3).
Oh rejoice for it is simple. Fix your eyes on the simplicity, don't allow yourself be distracted or be deceived. Pick up your sword, and don’t be afraid of all the giants before you, for they will all fall beneath your feet. Victory is yours already, anything contrary to this truth is a lie. Do not buy the lie that you are defeated, that you are still a slave, and you must continue to struggle. Adam was living such an easy life in the garden before he sinned and was cursed to struggle (Gen 3:17-19).
This constant struggling is a curse, and you have been redeemed from that curse. You have been brought back into that easy life. Enjoy it, and do not trade it for anything. Keep telling yourself that this battle is easy, do not be overwhelmed by the size of the enemy, rather focus on the the sweetness of pursuing God. Enjoy and celebrate this Christ (this person and this amazing reality) that has been freely given to you.
